I’m honored to serve on the Strawberry Recreation District Board and am seeking election to continue that service.
I bring more than 30 years of financial, real estate and management experience to the Board, including budgeting, capital planning and oversight of major projects. My focus is responsible financial stewardship, thoughtful decision-making and preserving the facilities and programs that make Strawberry such a special community.
Why I’m Running
I want to continue the work I’ve started.
I’m running because I care about Strawberry and want to help make sure our Recreation District remains a strong community resource for years to come. Serving on the Board has given me a much better understanding of both the opportunities ahead and the responsibility that comes with managing facilities and resources that belong to the community.
SRD is entering an important period. We are moving forward with a major new playground, raising private and public funding to help pay for it, and making decisions about facilities that will serve Strawberry for decades. At the same time, we need to take care of what we already have and plan responsibly for future improvements.
My financial, real estate and management experience is particularly useful in that work. I tend to ask practical questions: What will this cost? How will we pay for it? What alternatives have we considered? What are the long-term consequences? Most importantly, I want to continue contributing that perspective for the next two years.
What I Bring to the Board
Experience that translates into practical Board work.
Financial Experience
My career has involved making financial decisions about real estate, budgets, investments and major capital commitments. I bring that experience to the Board by focusing on costs, funding sources, financial trade-offs and the long-term impact of the decisions we make.
Real Estate & Capital Projects
For more than 30 years, I have worked with commercial properties through acquisitions, financing, construction, leasing, operations and capital improvements. That experience is directly relevant as SRD evaluates major projects, works with contractors and consultants, and plans for long-term facility needs.
A Practical Approach to Decision-Making
I believe good decisions begin with good questions: What are we trying to accomplish? What will it cost? What alternatives have we considered? What are the risks? And what will today’s decision mean five or ten years from now?
Follow-Through
Good ideas only matter if they can be implemented. My professional experience has taught me the importance of clear objectives, understanding the details, working collaboratively and following a project through to completion.
Priorities for Strawberry
A strong District today—and thoughtful planning for tomorrow.
Deliver a Great New Playground
The new playground is one of SRD’s most significant investments in many years. My priority is to help deliver a project our community will be proud of while maintaining careful oversight of design, construction, cost and schedule—and maximizing private donations, grants and other outside funding.
Protect SRD’s Financial Strength
SRD should meet today’s community needs without compromising its ability to maintain and improve facilities tomorrow. I will continue to focus on responsible budgeting, appropriate reserves, long-term capital planning and careful evaluation of major expenditures.
Maintain and Improve What We Have
Our pools, buildings, fields, parks and other facilities are valuable community assets. We should take care of what we already have while planning improvements that provide meaningful community benefits and represent a responsible use of District resources.
Plan for the Long Term
Major facility decisions should not be made in isolation. I want SRD to anticipate future capital needs and establish priorities so today’s decisions fit within a thoughtful long-term plan for the District.
Listen to the Community
Residents should have clear information about important projects and meaningful opportunities to provide input. The Board should listen carefully, communicate openly and then make decisions based on what will best serve the community as a whole.

Moving the New Playground Forward
I have been actively involved in evaluating the playground’s scope, costs, vendor proposals and funding alternatives as the Board selected a partner and moved the project forward. My focus has been on achieving a great result while maintaining careful financial and project oversight.
Building a Funding Strategy
Working with fellow Board members, our General Manager and community partners, I am helping pursue private donations, grants and other funding sources. Every outside dollar helps preserve SRD resources for other community needs and future improvements.
Bringing Financial Discipline to Board Decisions
I bring my financial and real estate experience to discussions involving budgets, capital expenditures, contracts, facilities and long-term planning—helping the Board consider both immediate costs and longer-term implications.
I am proud of the contribution I have made and would be honored to continue that work for the next two years.
About Doug
A professional perspective—and a personal commitment to Strawberry.
My wife, Coni, and I have been married for 39 years and are proud to call Strawberry home. We enjoy the outdoor lifestyle that makes this area so special, usually accompanied by our two Labrador retrievers.
Professionally, I have spent more than 30 years in commercial real estate finance, investment and management, with responsibility for acquisitions, financing, budgeting, property operations, capital projects and long-term investment decisions. Today, I work as a commercial real estate financial consultant.
I am also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). I believe professional experience is most valuable when it can be put to practical use, and serving on the SRD Board has given me that opportunity.
Outside of work and SRD, I enjoy hiking, cycling, swimming, golf and other outdoor activities. Coni and I feel fortunate to live in Strawberry, and serving on the Board is one way I can give something back to a community we value.
